RETRO COLLECTION REINVIGORATED!

 

Say goodbye to those ugly red stickers, the Retro Collection is shaking things up! At a Retro Toy Show in the UK last weekend guest speaker Steve Evans gave an interesting presentation on the future of the Retro Collection Line. According to Steve card backs will come with easy-peel stickers, so if you're not a fan of the humungous red circle, you are IN LUCK! 😋 SWEET

Other reveals include a brand new Original Trilogy Box Set based on characters from A New Hope. Some of the figures included were not produced by Kenner from the late 70's to mid 80's, thus opening a treasure chest of ideas as to whom could be created in future box sets in the years to come. For OG fans this is a tremendous announcement as most already possess the majority of the original Kenner 97, and are looking to add many of the background creatures, and smaller role characters to their existing 5 P.O.A. UNIVERSE❗❗ 

Many on social media have expressed their support for this latest new direction, and go further. Ideas are now spreading that it could be possible for Hasbro to recreate some of the old Kenner playsets such as: Death Star Space Station, Land Speeder, Darth Vader Tie Fighter, Droid Factory, Imperial Attack Base, Rebel Transport Vehicle, Patrol Dewback, and so forth. The number and range of Retro Collection items is limitless when you consider Kenner's creative past. I wouldn't hesitate to guess that we may even see the Dewback pipelined soon (why else would the Sandtrooper be included in the new box set). 💡

Personally, I love to see everything produced by Kenner get remade, but pretty sure that'll never happen. Extending this idea further, Hasbro might want to consider army builder 4 packs, such as those we currently see with The Vintage Collection. Also, other nostalgic throwbacks like; Vinyl Action Figure Collector Cases, and Chewbacca's Bandolier Strap (as a 52 year old this would be worn 24 hours a day, with action figures switched before going to bed) ✌

The Regime Has Fallen

 

The Empire is destroyed! Woke up to very happy news today, and was filled with joy and admiration for the people of Syria. They have suffered greatly under Assad's Dynasty for almost 50 years. Today another dictator is removed from power, hammering yet another nail into Putin's coffin. 

The Rebels are made up of many factions which represent the vast different ethnicities of Syria. It is incredible to think that the Civil War has been going on for well over a decade now, and in less than 4 days the Rebellion struck back with what can only be described as a 'lightening offensive', a total rout of Assad's State Forces. As each territory was recaptured, the Rebels were able to absorb more and more manpower and resources to continue their objective, an all out assault on Damascus.  

It will be a day long remembered, but not by the Assad's regime. He, and his chronies have fled like the cowards that they are. I want every bounty hunter on Earth to track him down, and bring him to justice. Over half a million people have died during the Civil War, and the most atrocious war crime of all was commited on August 21st 2013 when hundreds of innocent civilians were killed by chemical attacks using nerve agents!

My prayers and thoughts go out to the people of Syria. Celebrate and come together to build a better nation, and a more stable Middle East. The challenges have just begun, all sides must now sit at the negotiating table and decide the fate of the country's future. Like Luke's New Republic, order and stability are not easily maintained. Furthermore, there will be hidden, rogue elements that remain, Assad loyalists, remnants of the old regime, and perhaps the potential threat of extreme Islamist Ideology which could ignite new conflict. 

America, Israel, Turkey and Syrian neighbors must help the country pick itself up, and restore a sense of normality to daily life. The octopus tenticles from Iran and Russia have been surgically cut by a very intelligent, and well planned military operation from all involved. Peace and love to ordinary Syrian people, and Happy Christmas. Muslims, Jews, Christians must live in harmony, enough blood has been shed.

The Skeleton Crew Begins!

With great anticipation ''The Skeleton Crew' Disney Plus Series, has finally debuted this week. Fans of the franchise were lucky to watch 2 full episodes back-to-back with a total run time of about 60 minutes. From my own personal point of view I was not expecting much as Lucasfilm had touted the show to be geared towards a very young audience, and was subsequently rated PG. 

Nevertheless, I am happy to report that the style, acting, storyline, and overall production of the show has proved to be of high calibre. As of writing this article, Rotten Tomatoes are showing very positive reviews for the show; 95% Tomatometer average, and 84% Popcorn average. This is extremely high considering the awful year that Lucasfilm has had.

The Acolyte which cost a whopping 280 million US dollars failed to satisfy the adult audience, falling flat on it's face, and causing much controversy with the project's seemingly woke, LGBTQ undertones, poor story telling, lackluster acting, and playing around with well-established Star Wars Lore. As of today's reading, The Acolyte continues to show dreadful ratings. On Rotten Tomatoes only 78% Tomatometer average, and an embarrassing 18% Popcorn average!!

The Skeleton Crew, although designed for kids has somehow managed to engage an entire army of adult watchers. The shows creators Christopher Ford, and John Watts have skillfully split one narrative into 2 easily distinguishable perspectives, namely; that of the child, and that of the adult observer. Children will love the show for it's obvious focus on a group of 4 kids whom, like many other kids live their day to day routines, but yearn for something magical, and special to happen thus projecting their fantasies and imagination into the real world. Adults are rewarded with subtle, and nuanced hints at a dark and disturbing underbelly to the storyline, which will probably play out in the latter episodes.

The first episode deals with Wim's struggle to face the fact that his mother has passed away, and his father, whilst working very hard to provide his sons material needs, appears very much emotionally disengaged, and not conscious of Wim's unhappines. In addition Wim attempts to ignore reality by mimicking the avoiding behavior of his father by not paying attention to school work, or daily responsibilities but instead immersing himself in a fantasy world of ancient mythology, where he can learn about legendary stories of Jedi warrior battling with Sith Lords.
